In the last few years while experiencing ongoing deep sorrow, sadness, fear, and anguish, I began to think that if this is my new existence, if this is who I am, why not try to make something beautiful out of it. I began to paint me in the midst of sadness. I now regard these pieces of art as my friends . . . No longer hiding, embarrassed, and ashamed. It is who I am.
"Whatever pain you can't get rid of, make it your creative offering."
-- Susan Cain
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Sherry got her AA degree in Liberal Arts & Science. She went on to become a Library Clerk at the Buellton public library where she worked for 18 years. Creativity has always been a thread throughout her life in many different ways. She was an early pioneer and champion for the homeschooling movement and has four beautiful children who have all gone on to express creativity in their own unique ways.
Sherry has always been interested in the arts. She traveled to Europe for seven months as a young adult, and in a London art store, she found her first set of oil paints she carried around for inspiration all these years. In 2023, Sherry began exploring working with fine arts in this next chapter of life, with her oils and charcoal series on “Loving Connection”.
Currently retired, she volunteers with the Friends of the Buellton Library organization as both the Bookstore and Art Coordinator chairperson. She's lived in Buellton, CA for nearly 40 years with her husband of over 50 years.
